Have you ever lost a cell phone?

Have you ever lost a cell phone??

Or for some reason, loaned it to someone and they lost it for you?? I had this happen this past weekend. The person did not do it deliberately but they also did not accept responsibility. No apparent remorse.

Now, my cell phone is gone. Along with all of the contacts and birthdays and pictures.

Most of the contacts and their information can be recreated, but not all. How about that old co-worker that you go to their place every 4th of July for the party, but otherwise, everyone is too busy, or you just live too far apart, to get together any other time of the year?? I can drive to their place on the 4th... but I can't call first to make sure the party is a go.

I am honestly surprised at how hard it hit me that "my phone is gone". I seldom loose things, but still, is a small electronic device that important? Will my life not go on without it? I recently uploaded the pictures - so the only ones lost were in the past week or two. My car started this morning, went to work, a latte from Starbucks - I can live without a cell phone, at least for a short time.

Perhaps it was the loanee's lack of remorse. He was not concerned that it was gone. Possibly he thinks it's my fault? When he told me, I did not scream, shout, or threaten, but rather a "ok, where was the last place you saw it?" and we went over the area's again and checked for it. Still, I did not even get an "I'm sorry" - until a day later that is.

Now what do I do? Unless it fell into the hands of a criminal or other unorthodox person (it was lost at a church) it is unlikely that the bill will be run up. Have unlimited long distance and all that stuff. Do I give it a few days and hope someone turns it in?? Do I call the cell phone company and tell them to turn it off?? Have been calling it, but no one is answering. It was on vibrate when it was lost.
